David R. Baca, Ph.D.Director, Jack K. Williams Library & The Commons, Texas A&M University at Galveston Statement of Interest: My identity as a librarian is very much tied to IAMSLIC. IAMSLIC encapsulates everything great librarians are. It continues to be the best group I have ever been associated with. Everyone is so much fun and the depth of knowledge is unrivaled. This relationship is what drove me to be President of IAMSLIC and is what drives me to run for Treasurer. I want to support this organization in any way I can. Previous Treasurers, especially Kristen LaBonte, have gotten us to a point where procedures and processes have become institutionalized. We know what we’re doing and we owe it all to the hard work of past Treasurers. We are now moving into a new environment, both globally and technologically for IAMSLIC. I would like to be a part of that new environment. I am very familiar with our accounting, having worked on the Treasurer Task Force and I understand how funds come in and out of the organization and how to budget. As Treasurer I will work closely with Kristen to insure that all of our best practices are carried forward. Bio: I am currently Director of the Jack K. Williams Library at Texas A&M University at Galveston. My background is in engineering and I have an MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD from Texas A&M University. I am an active member of ALA, ACRL, the Texas Library Association and the Texas Council of Academic Libraries. I am a Past-President of IAMSLIC from the SAIL region. | Geoffrey P. Timms, MLISLibrarian for Marine Resources, College of Charleston Libraries/SCDNR/NOAA https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0970-2618 Statement of Interest: As a librarian, IAMSLIC is THE organization that I consider my professional “home” among my peers. As such, it is my desire to contribute to the necessary functions that enable IAMSLIC to be the vibrant, supportive, and collegial network that it is. I am running for the office of Treasurer because I enjoy administrating accurate accounts which are essential for the integrity, transparency, and financial stability of the organization. I have past experience in equivalent roles at college (Treasurer - Wye College Christian Fellowship), in Albania (Accounts Manager in multiple currencies - BMS World Mission Albania Office, Baptist Union of Albania, and Baptist Foundation of Tirana), and in my current position (administrating the NOAA CCEHBR OCLC account). I am located in the USA, which is a requirement for this position. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you in our organization.
