IAMSLIC 50th Annual Conference - Alexandria, Egypt, 27-31 October, 2024
…cutting through the breadth and depth of heaven beacons to the farthest distances by day, and all night long the sailors borne on the waves will see the great flame blazing from its top…
-Posidippus
Welcome to the 50th Annual Conference of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC) and the 7th Annual AFRIAMSLIC Regional Meeting. The conference will be hosted in-person and virtually by the The National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) and the AFRIAMSLIC Regional Group in Alexandria, Egypt. Please note that the conference dates have been updated to 27-31 October, 2024.
Our theme this year is “Shining a Light.” One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Lighthouse of Alexandria lit the way for generations of sailors seeking an entry into the Great Harbor of Alexandria. Libraries, information centers and IAMSLIC continue to shine a light on the world, representing the guiding role of libraries and research in navigating the vast ocean of knowledge, particularly related to ocean and fisheries studies.
Our program will feature invited guests from NIOF and the AFRIAMSLIC region, presentations from members of IAMSLIC from around the globe and asynchronous content that will highlight the region, climate, terrain, people and waters. We welcome presentations, activities, workshops, posters and panels that shine a light on the work we are doing, supporting and fostering. If you are interested in presenting at the conference, we invite you to submit a proposal at Call for Proposals.
We look forward to seeing you at the 50th IAMSLIC Conference!
