The planning committee of the 48th Annual Conference of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC) and the 4th meeting of the Latin American Regional Group (LARG) is excited to invite you to join us at the conference on 18-21 October 2022, with a pre-conference on 17 October 2022.

This year's conference is HYBRID featuring both in-person and virtual participation. This means that live sessions will be presented in person at DINARA – Dirección Nacional de Recursos Acuáticos in Montevideo, Uruguay and will be streamed virtually. Wherever you are located, you can participate! All recorded sessions will be made available for participants.

The 2022 conference theme is “From streams to oceans: Libraries informing sustainability of aquatic resources.” Our World is a shared environment; our inland waters, seas, and oceans sustain us and connect us. As we gather, both physically and virtually, we come from different continents, cultures, and experiences. We represent varied organizations that care about the sustainability of our aquatic and marine resources. As library and information professionals, we support and document the invaluable research that contributes to the protection of our waters and the abundant life that dwells within and around them.

This conference offers an ideal opportunity to exchange our ideas about the role of libraries as we do our part to sustain aquatic resources. Through a varied selection of presentations as well as our informal conversations, we will learn from each other, find inspiration, explore initiatives, and even develop new collaborations to advance the field of aquatic sciences information.

A message from our delightful host in Uruguay, Aída:
Dear colleagues of this great IAMSLIC family: Our meeting is very soon; the 48th IAMSLIC Conference & 4th Latin American Regional Group Meeting. It will be a pleasure to receive you in my country, Uruguay. We are preparing everything to make your stay pleasant. The selected conference hotels are very close to the Conference venue, in DINARA.

In addition to the work days, we will have recreation! We will spend some fantastic days! The welcome dinner will have its charm: dance, tango, milonga and candombe!

DINARA is in the heart of the city of Montevideo and a few blocks from the Old City, where you can visit historical and emblematic places of the city. The Mercado del Puerto is a must for tourists. Very close we have the Municipal Palace with the Replica in bronze of "David" by Michelangelo, made in Florence, Italy (1931). The Municipal Palace also has the Art History Museum. Close by are the Mercado de la Abundancia and Mercado Artesanal.

On the last day we will go to the city of Maldonado. In this city we have the well-known Punta del Este spa where the Museum of Contemporary Art was recently inaugurated. Punta del Este has many natural attractions. The whale watching season begins in October!!! You can also observe sea lions and birds!!
