Seminar Introducing ASFA 3.0

Maria Kalentsits and Tamsin Vicary
FAO-ASFA Secretariat

Open to all conference attendees and DINARA staff, this session will introduce the ASFA Partnership and recent improvements implemented by the ASFA Secretariat to promote and disseminate Aquatic Science and Fisheries research. Having celebrated its 50thanniversary in 2021, ASFA is a well established network best known for its database, available on the ProQuest platform to subscribers only. However, the activities of the partnership extend far beyond the database and in recent years have extended to: a free to use subset of the database on fao.org; a thesaurus of aquatic science terms, available freely online as linked open data; collection and analysis of aquatic science research; publications including the twice yearly ASFA Magazine; and training and outreach efforts to promote the dissemination of research. This seminar will present these activities as well as provide opportunities for individuals and institutions to join ASFA and benefit from participating in an international network.
