The conference will be held in the Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI) which is an institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). The Institute is located on the campus of the CNR Research Area of Pisa / Area della Ricerca CNR, via G. Moruzzi 1, 56124 Pisa, Italy.
Pisa has an international airport with daily flights to London, Paris, Bruxelles and other important European cities, as well as to Rome, Milan, and other Italian cities. The timetable of incoming and outgoing flights together with a list of carriers is available at the Pisa International Airport website (Galileo Galilei Airport, PSA).
The airport is on the outskirts of the town, approximately 6 km from the Institute and about 1 km from the railway station Pisa Centrale. To reach the Institute, it is probably more convenient to take a taxi. Otherwise, less than 40 meters from the Passenger Terminal of Pisa Airport, the new, fully automatic and fast "People Mover" train connects the Airport to Pisa Centrale Railway Station every 5/8 minutes, daily from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm (https://www.pisa-airport.com/en/the-passengers/transport/people-mover.html); from the Railway Station you can take the bus 3+ (direction Via di Pratale) getting off at the stop Volpi CNR. Information about tickets and timetables are available here.
The railway station is located on the main line from Turin to Rome. There is also a very frequent train service to and from Florence. Ferrovie dello Stato provides a train schedule and booking service.
The railway station is approximately 5 km from the Institute. To reach the Institute you can take the bus 3+ (direction Via di Pratale) getting off at the stop Volpi CNR. Information about tickets and timetables are available here. Taxi service is also available.
Pisa is near the intersection of two highways: A12 north-south (Sestri Levante - Livorno) and A11 east-west (Pisa - Florence). Informations about italian highways can be found here.
From motor way A12 (green signs) Exit Pisa centro, then follow the high way (blue signs) to Florence up to the Exit Pisa Nord Est and follow the road signs to the Area CNR, about 10 min. from the motor way exit. Parking is available.
Pisa is a university city with a population of nearly 100,000 (with about 60,000 students - not all of whom are resident). It is situated in Tuscany, close to the coast and just 80 km from Florence.
